Where to eat in Bar Harbor, Maine

If you have yet to vacation in Maine, put it on your to do list. It certainly isn’t titled “Vacationland” for nothing šŸ˜Š

My family and I visited Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park for our weekend getaway.
Our first restaurant stop Friday night, was en route to Bar Harbor. We stopped in Bangor, ME, where we enjoyed dinner at a unique, Mainer-themed restaurant- Timber Kitchen and Bar.

This place is the epitome of Maine, complete with flannel lined seating, moose, pine trees, and wood decor.

I enjoyed a rhubarb drink, moonshine glazed salmon salad, and truffle French fries. This restaurant is reasonably priced, with a gorgeous atmosphere, and friendly staff.

Our first actual stop in Bar Harbor village was Cafe This Way. This wasn’t my families first time vacationing here, and this place is always one we visit.

We love that it includes options for several eating styles. I choose vegan tofu scramble complete with gluten free toast and coffee, with a splash of soymilk.

We spent several hours touring downtown and found a hidden gem: Bar Harbor Popcorn. They feature unique Maine flavors like blueberry and maple. They are also gmo and gluten free!

Next up was a local coffee shop, Choco-Latte, for a mid afternoon pick me up. We got 2 chai lattes, and iced espresso. Their coffee is amazing, so enjoy your caffeine fix here!

We spent the rest of the late afternoon at a beautiful winery, surrounded by green fields, sampling different varieties of wine. We followed up with a brick oven pizza for a late lunch. I ordered a veggie pizza with no cheese, and nutritional yeast on the side.

Dinner for the night was at an Irish Pub where we, of course, enjoyed fresh Maine lobster, accompanied by live music. Luckily, they offered gluten free sandwich bread so I was able to enjoy a lobster roll as a lobster sandwich!! (I apologize for the low picture quality- it was dimly lit inside). The photo doesn’t do my lobster roll (or sandwich-I should say) justice!

Sunday morning brunch was at the Great Maine Breakfast. I (again) got a tofu scramble, gluten free bread, and an apple spice vegan pancake on the side. This restaurant is great for traditional dinner foods!

Our day was spent at Acadia National Park so lunch was a quick stop at Thrive Juice and Smoothie Bar. This place is the perfect spot for the health conscious eater. They offer smoothie bowls, date bars, salads, juices, and smoothies.

I enjoyed a vegan tuna sandwich and a green juice. Fast food at its finest!

The afternoon was spent exploring the scenic landscapes of Acadia. The views are breathtaking.

After several hours at Acadia, our final meal was at JalapeƱos, where we shared a $10 pitcher of margarita, chips and salsa, and lobster tacos. It was the perfect end to another amazing year in Bar Harbor.

Overall, the food on Maine’s coast is to die for. It’s fresh, locally sourced, and flavorful. I recommend making a trip out here to enjoy gorgeous scenery and tasty food!!
